12 THE MONTANA ARCHITECT | 2014 | www.aia-mt.org A Rebranding of MSU’s AIAS Chapter DUSTIN TALBERT, CHAPTER PRESIDENT I n recent years AIAS chapter leaders have been diligent- ly working to increase the relevance that the AIAS has in architectural education. Our mission is to expand upon our scope of involvement within our student body and community in hopes that we can become better advocates of design and of our future profession. Our realm of involvement continues to grow as we have added more community service programs, design charrettes, increased general membership, and continued to find agency working within the professional community. Recently our scope of involvement has expanded into offering ad- ditional services to the student body so that we may all find greater value in learning from one another. We do this we hope provid- ing a platform so that all student demographics can find value in and take ownership of available AIAS programs. Our methods of implementing our ideas are evolving each semester, with the emphasis of a more professional approach to nearly everything we are involved in. We feel that the AIAS offers a strong connection to both the professional and community realms; a connection that is beyond what is offered in our traditional education. These links however are much more than just networking opportunities. We are continually looking for ways to insert design into the fabric of our community outreach programs, questioning how design can be implemented into our community. By taking these developmental measures we continue to add relevance to our organization and the values of good design.
