Project Requirements With over 240 employees to house in a nearly 100,000 sf program, NWEnergy purposely choose an urban site in Uptown Butte. Brick masonry was discussed from day one in the planning as a material that would not only ‘fit’ the historic fabric of the City, but also pro- vide the sense of permanence and professionalism in establishing a new image for NWEnergy. The team also recognized that masonry would contribute greatly to the long term maintenance goals as well as sustainability requirements. The role of brick not only as a material, but also as an expression of craft in building, became paramount in the design. b
