15 T he American Institute of Architecture Students at MSU is gearing up for a really exciting year. Our board for the year is made up of a stellar group of individuals who all bring diverse experiences, perspectives, and skills to the table. Each year we provide a series of workshops aimed at helping students with their design process, work flow, and time management. We will also be hosting guest speakers as a part of our professional series to give students a glimpse into the life of working in the field of architecture and design. We are very excited to announce that this spring we have the honor and privilege of hosting the West Quad Regional Confer- ence here in Bozeman for the first time ever! Our bid was pre- sented by our Vice-President, Aryn Phillips, and President Levi Wilson at the national AIAS Grassroots Conference in Washing- ton, D.C. this summer. After talking to fellow conference goers, we found out a huge reason our school was selected to host the conference was because we exhibited huge amounts of support from our faculty, staff, professionals and organizations such as AIA MT. Therefore, we owe you a big thank you and shout out for the years of continued support! The theme for the conference will be TEXTURE; we will be looking at how the sense of place is developed at three scales: en- vironment, community, and humanity. This means there will be a wide possible variety of speakers and workshops, from pottery making to community planning to ecology. Our co-chairs for the event are Sander Story and Sarah Flach, and they have been leading the charge on making sure that this will be an exception- al experience for everyone at the conference. If you want to learn more about our events, or are interested in helping us some way or fashion, please contact us!
